On Saturday, January 25, 2025, The First International Symposium was held at the College of Education - University of Zakho on the occasion of World Education Day - Education and Pedagogy

The symposium was inaugurated in the presence of Professor Dr. Satar Jabbar Haji, Dean of the Faculty of Education and the event organizer, along with the participation of Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Hussein Ahmed, General Director of the Quality Assurance and Supervision Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, who delivered the keynote speech. Assistant Professor Dr. Ramadan Jafar Mustafa, Vice President of the University for Student Affairs, and Professor Dr. Abdulmohimen Aldeirshawi also participated as a main speaker, alongside several university professors and experts in the field of education.

The symposium covered various topics focusing on significant educational issues and declared December 24 as World Education Day.

During the first session, Dr. Mohammed discussed the topic "Quality of Education in Universities in the Light of Technological Advancement and Artificial Intelligence Requirements," highlighting the necessity for universities to adapt to scientific and technological developments to ensure sustainable progress.

In the second session, Professor Dr. Abdulmohimen Aldeirshawi spoke about "Education in Times of Crises and Wars," addressing the challenges facing the educational process during crises and wars. He emphasized the importance of adapting the educational system to withstand such circumstances.

Following the sessions, the attendees were given the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussions on the topics presented during the symposium.

 

At the conclusion of the event, the Dean of the Faculty of Education and the University Presidency expressed their gratitude to the speakers and participants, emphasizing the importance of fostering collaboration to meet the requirements of education in the modern era.
